About the Opportunity:
The Machinist is responsible for
setting up, operating, and maintaining manual machine tools to produce precision parts to specification. Also, the Machinist must be skilled in reading blueprints, accurate measurement, and working with various materials. Additionally, the Machinist will ensure all work meets exact tolerances and quality standards. Other duties include basic machine maintenance, troubleshooting, and collaborating with engineers or other staff to improve processes.
Key Job Responsibilities include, but not limited to:

-Set up, operate and maintain manual machine tools
-Produce precision parts and/or prototypes to specification
-Modify R&D parts as needed or when drawings are revised
-Suggest design improvements to reduce cost, and upgrade parts for higher quality assemblies
-Repair parts that have been damaged in-house
-Build custom tools when needed
-Clean up parts from outside suppliers that are not up to spec
-Maintain machine shop, compressed air system, and help with other special projects
-Other duties as assigned
Minimum Qualifications:

-Minimum 5 years of machining experience on CNC, mill, lathe
-Ability to read blueprints/design drawings
-Make recommendations on material sourcing
-Expertise on design and revision recommendations
-Ability to give time and cost estimates based on drawings
-Strong attention to detail
-Good communication skills
-Ability to work effectively in a team environment
-Flexibility and desire to take input from different departments on projects and transform into a finished product
-Ability to work independently and build relationships cross functionally
Salary:
In accordance with California law, the expected salary for this part-time, non-benefited position is between $40 - $55 per hour, working 10 – 20 hours per week. The actual compensation will be determined considering factors such as relevant skills and experience and other factors permitted by law.
