Your opportunity:
Under the general direction of the Assistant to the Dean of Students, Senior Administration Coordinator andreporting to the Dean of Students, the Coordinator, Student Community Development (CSCD) is responsible forthe planning and implementation of community building and programming initiatives for University Collegestudents – with a primary focus on off-campus students. The CSCD works collaboratively with professional staff,student staff, student groups and student organizations as well faculty members across the College to coordinateUC's Commuter Student Centre and support student activities and student services available in the UC Union.
Your responsibilities will include:
-Liaising with internal and external contacts to coordinate execution of seminars and workshops
-Fostering and maintaining networks to build capacity and collaboration
-Promoting events and programs to students
-Advising student groups on the development of clubs and societies
-Advising student groups on the application of relevant policies and procedures
-Providing advice and support to students and mentors on program delivery matters
-Screening and making referrals to appropriate resources and services
-Directing the activities of casual staff
Essential Qualifications:
-Bachelor's Degree, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
-Minimum two (2) years in student life programming, preferably in a college or university setting.
-Experience working with student government.
-Experience in developing and delivering workshops aimed at student development and wellbeing.
-Experience with executing events and handling of event expenses.
-Experience in directing casual staff members.
-Experience using web based programs to promote events.
-Experience in building networks and communities both in person and online.
-Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
-Excellent computer skills in: MS Office Suite (e.g. Word, Excel, PowerPoint), E-mail (e.g. Outlook), electronic calendar organizer (e.g. Outlook), social media (e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc.), Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Creative Suite, Drupal/WordPress or similar content management systems.
-Demonstrated strong student service orientation and experience fostering equity, diversity and inclusion in a post-secondary environment.
-Demonstrated strong organizational and time-management skills.
